Diversity and Inclusion is woven into the very fabric of Avivo. It’s a long term commitment.

It all begins with Respect.

Respect for our differences, and our connections, – how each of us is a unique human being. We can each bring our whole self and lived experiences of diversity in ways that are meaningful to us and the people that we serve and work with.

At Avivo, we have an active D+I aimed at increasing awareness of the various dimensions of diversity and embedding D+I practices throughout Avivo.

We can do this through:

  • Increased visibility – celebrating Key Diversity events
  • D+I employment data collection
  • Employment support
  • Learning and development
  • RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan)
  • Safety
  • Sharing stories from our people.

D+I Employment data

Twice yearly Avivo holds ‘Pulse’ survey to ask colleagues about Avivo

This helps to find out more about the make-up of our people.

Since October 2021, we’ve also increased our numbers of Diverse colleagues employed.

  • First Nations – 3% up from 2%
  • Disabilities – 5% up from 4%
  • LGBTIQ+ – 6% up from 5%

Employment Support

Our First Nations Engagement Officer supports our Aboriginal and Torress Straits Islander colleagues across all our regions from Carnarvon in the North, across the Wheatbelt, and to Peel in the South. They also maintain pro-active networks with Aboriginal employment agencies and Peak organisations.

We continue to encourage more First Nations people to join Avivo, through being visibly present at NAIDOC and other events and by inviting Elders and Traditional Owners to acknowledge or welcome people to the country where Avivo operates.

We’ve held events for colleagues with preparation of traditional foods, and a VR film about the Galup Massacre that occurred close to the Osborne Park office. Artworks by Fred Knox and Mel Spillman have been commissioned.

We trust that our commitment to fostering a supportive culture welcomes more First Nations peoples to join us.
