The Humans
Meet the People in the Monuments.
Support exists at the intersection of a customer’s world and that of a support worker. Each relationship is a unique and wonderful blend of two individuals. The Support Project showcases the strength and importance of this bond through the powerful, personal stories of real-life heroes in the Avivo community.

Meet Jasmine & Jess
Jess had been an Avivo customer for around five years when she and Jasmine first met.
As Jasmine witnessed Jess’ many strengths and passionate views, she suggested she join the Avivo Council. The Council sees customers collaborate with Avivo’s decision-makers around strategic goals and the organisation’s direction.
Jess has since taken on some fulfilling roles and had positive experiences with Avivo. In her words, she’s saying ‘yes’ to life.
Part of Jasmine’s role is to share the voices of customers so they’re not only heard but amplified throughout the organisation. Jess’ voice is now one that our Executive Team are plenty familiar with and eager to listen to.
Jess is living her purpose while sharing her story as a person with lived experience of a disability and as an Avivo customer.

Meet Karlee & Vai
In the charming rural town of Wundowie, the relationship between Karlee and Vai shows how genuine connections can have a huge positive impact on the lives of both customer and Support Worker.
It’s not the first time Karlee and Vai have worked together. Vai mentored Karlee in footy umpiring years ago. These shared memories have created a bond that goes beyond the typical customer / Support Worker dynamic, yet they still maintain clear and professional boundaries.
Their relationship thrives on open communication, providing a safe and nurturing space for honest conversations and shared growth.
“As a Support Worker and customer, we stand alone, but together, we can do so much more,” said Karlee.
“It’s a relationship… Together, we’re a team.”
Meet Paul & Kenny
For Paul and Kenny, their relationship is built on trust and longevity.
This dynamic duo has worked together for an impressive nine years, fostering a relaxed and comfortable rapport.
Working together several days a week, Paul and Kenny engage in a variety of activities, including swimming, shopping, physiotherapy exercises at Kenny’s home, and literacy work to enhance Kenny’s reading and writing skills.
The mutual respect between Paul and Kenny is evident in their interactions and together, they create plans for Kenny’s future supports to achieve his personal goals.
